Words is constructed out of only two source sounds: Text excerpted from Walt Whitman's "Song of Myself" and two short passages from the Hindu Upanishads, spoken by my very undersdanding wife, O'Bryan; and several abbrieviated Gregorian chants sung by a good friend with a great voice, Liza Wirtz. The piece provides meaning only through sonic allusion and metaphor, much like the texts upon which it is based. Words was created using the University of Michigan Electronic Music Studios and my home studio.
